Over my Winter Break, I had the opportunity to take a trip with Dallas Baptist University to go to Israel. Going to Israel had always been a trip that I had dreamed of going on, but never thought I would be able to go. I have never grown and learned so many things in such a short time span before. I knew that the Lord was going to work and show me incredible things while I was in Israel, but my trip was truly life changing! We went to so many amazing places and everyday we were experiencing things that I’ve been able to read about in the Bible my whole life. We went to places like The Sea of Galilee, Jerusalem, Bethlehem, The Dead Sea, The City of David, The Garden Tomb, the Mount of the Beatitudes, and so many more amazing places. I was able to go on this trip with around thirty other Dallas Baptist University students and also students from other campuses across the country. Some of these people were friends and others I had never even met before. Through the ten days that we spent together the Lord really blessed me with people that loved to learn and grow in their faith and one of the biggest blessings from this trip was the friendships I was able to make along the way. One of the most memorable things was that the Lord really worked through our time together and at the end of the week we had a closing time together to recap all of the things that we got to experience and learn. My new friend Kyle who is from California and only came on this trip because he works for the US and Israeli Relations department for the government wanted to come to Israel to learn more about the history of the country. He started to talk about the week he had just experienced with us and said that through his relationships he had made and the places we visited together that he could tell that there was something different about us. He said that he wanted what we have and he knew that was Jesus stirring in his heart. He asked us to pray for him and right then and there we gathered around him and we were able to pray with him and help him ask Jesus into his heart to be his Lord and savior! That moment was the best part of my trip. Nothing could top that experience. I felt like I was going to Israel to learn more about my personal growth with the Lord and even through that the Lord worked in such a beautiful way to touch those who need him most. That was only one of the many unbelievable moments. We were able to experience Shabbat at a Jewish families house. It was incredible to experience and at the end of the night I was able to build a relationship with the Jewish families twenty year old daughter. We started talking and the conversation led to my faith as a christian and I was able to share with her what I believe and talk to her about Jesus. We shared our information and I have actually been able to keep in contact with her. The Lord has just shown me that he is always working and I need to always be ready to share what he has done in my life and what he can do in other people’s lives who do not know him yet. I would not have been able to go on this trip without ministries like Glowing Heart. I am so grateful for this opportunity and the Legacy Scholarship that I received. The time I had in Israel is something I will never forget.
