New Hope First Baptist Church
by Alyssa Barbee

This weekend was not only my first DNOW with Glowing Heart but my first DNOW ever. I was blown away with it all. I loved coming alongside younger sisters in Christ and encouraging them. Our theme for the weekend was "Take The Risk" and I couldn't think of a better statement for this generation of believers. We talked about Peter in Matthew 14:22-32 when the disciples witnessed Jesus walking on the water. Peter's repsonse to Jesus' instructions to get out of the boat was obedience. As Christians we are faced with the question: will I get out of the boat today? It was awesome to hear my 7th grade girls talk about how they needed to be more obedient to Christ.

I was so blessed by seeing how a tremendous sense of unity is present when members of the body of Christ come together. One of my prayers for the weekend was Colossians 2:2-3, "My purpose is that they may be encouraged in heart, and united in love, so that they may have the full riches of complete understanding, in order that they may know the mystery of God, namely Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge." I saw firsthand how God answered that prayer when three kids made the decision for the first time to give their lives to Christ. Many seeds were planted in other hearts as well. I am so excited for what God is doing at New Hope Baptist Church!
