Growing up, I was always around the church and was told about God. Although I come from a “broken home”, I had my mom and grandparents who were Christians to lead me on the right path, so I wasn’t completely unaware of who HE was. When I was 7 years old, I accepted Christ into my heart at VBS. I knew that I had encountered a lot of hardships when I was little and thought that once I became a Christian my life was supposed to be easy. However, that was not the case. When I was a freshman in high school, I began to understand what it meant to live by God’s plan. His will wasn’t about me or what I wanted to do with my life. I especially never saw myself in anything like Glowing Heart. I told myself, and everyone around me, that I wanted nothing to do with singing. I remember my grandpa playing music and traveling, singing gospel songs and using the talents God gave him to spread the love of Christ. He once said, “You could travel with me and we could sing and share with others.” My first thought: “You lost me at singing.” I absolutely refused and I remember becoming so frustrated because I didn’t want to. God works in mighty ways, and I’ve found that every time I said I could never do something, God sits back and says, “Just you wait.” When I was a sophomore in high school, God clearly revealed that Glowing Heart was a part of His plan for me. As time went on, I saw how the former members loved on me in such a way that made me want to do the same for others. To let my life reflect Christ in such a way that it inspires people to follow the Lord’s plan for their life; to let students in my generation know that despite their circumstances, God can use them! I can now say that understanding God’s will in this chapter of my life, I wouldn’t have it any other way. With this being my last year in Glowing Heart, I look back and reflect on how faithful God has been and just how much He has taught me through this ministry which makes me that much more excited to see what He has in store for this year!
“Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the lord, knowing that your toil is not in vain in the Lord”
