Disciple-Now Weekend
What is a D-Now?
A Disciple Now is a weekend retreat for youth, normally hosted by the church with most housing students in host homes for the weekend. It is a time of group sessions, worship, teaching, testimonies, and relationship building. It is a great weekend to break away from the norm and come together as the Christian body to develop a deeper understanding of The Lord with like-minded believers. It is also a perfect opportunity to invite people to experience Christ in a profound way, or even for the very first time.
Since the beginning of the ministry in 1988, Glowing Heart has seen over 10,000 people put their faith in Christ, with the majority taking place at Disciple-Now Weekends!
It’s all about the students! We understand that people do not care how much you know until they know how much you care, so as soon as students start arriving, we want them to feel seen and loved, because there is a God that sees and loves them. We want youth to not only know God, but to feel bold and empowered to speak about Him and all that He has done!
During the weekend, students are taken through four sessions (the material changes annually, see below for what we are going through this year!) before leading into the Saturday night service where we have come to expect a powerful night of worship and response. Following this service we go into our final, intentional moment of ministry known as One on Ones.
Having built a relationship with the students over the weekend, we end Saturday night with a time for each student to meet with a leader one on one, creating a safe environment for them to feel comfortable asking questions they may not want to ask in a group setting, or even talking about difficulties they may be facing that our leaders can speak truth into.
On Sunday before the church service starts, we have a youth rally that is used as a testimonial time! We encourage students to stand and share with the others what God has done or is doing in their life, because testimonies are important and we need to share! We hope and pray that finding the courage to speak up here will empower them to proclaim the goodness of God to their lost friends.

What is the D-Now Material?
Every year, Glowing Heart Ministries writes material that we use to bring students to a deeper understanding of the Scriptures and a closer relationship with The Lord.
For the 2022-2023 season, we are looking at moments in the lives of four Old Testament people and how their stories ultimately point to the one true king, Jesus.
Through this, we desire for students to see the excitement of the Old Testament and how it is still relevant to today, and by connecting different stories to Jesus, that they may begin to see how all Scripture points to the One that gave His life for us. These four may have been great, but Jesus is better!
There is something powerful about high schoolers and middle schoolers seeing college students with a burning passion for Christ. That is why Glowing Heart is not just the band that is seen on stage leading worship, we are the same people in the host homes teaching and encouraging the youth!
